Member of the National Association of Professional Martial Artists Our SchoolIn our school, Taekwondo & Kempo Karate are combined to make an excellent form of self-defense. We stress that all styles and systems of the Martial Arts are good. It's up to the practitioners as to how good the style is. That only comes through many hours of training and dedication. TaekwondoA korean form of self-defense, has become one of the world's most popular Martial Arts. "TAE" means to jump or kick or swash with foot. "KWON" means to destroy with hand or fist. "DO" means an art of way or method. Taekwondo requires no weapons, only the bare hands & feet are used. It employs 17 parts of the body to attack 54 vulner- able and critical spots (vital spots) on the opponent & should it be necessary, it can deprive the opponent of his life. Kempo Karate DoOur system originated in China, moved to Korea, then to Japan, and brought to America in 1969 by Professor A.C. Church, Charleston, South Carolina. This system has been refined and added to over the years. It combines techniques from different systems of the Martial Arts. it employs linear as well as circular moves, utilizing intermittent power, when and where needed. it is flexible in thought and action. It consists of throws, take downs, locks and holds for close in fighting. The various kicks, punches and blocks are used for long to medium range fighting. We us lateral movement in countering a kick or punch and use angular counter attacks on opponents. We train to defend ourselves using our head, elbows, knees, hands, and feet as our weapons. |
