Benefits of a Host
Congregation
Hosting families allows lay people to personally make a difference by
ministering to those in need in the safe setting of their own churches.
Host churches provide meals and private rooms for each family. Also, volunteers interact with the
guest families.
Participation in the network as a
host church causes congregations to have a broader "outward focus" as
opposed to concentrating only on the congregation's internal needs.
The network forms close bonds to
"build bridges" between denominations and cultural differences.
Host
Congregation Responsibilities
The families are housed as guests by members
of the congregation at each host church from 5:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. for seven
consecutive days, four times each year, the host church provides the families
with, breakfast,
dinner, recreation and friendly support. At 7 a.m., the families are transported to the
network's day center where they shower, prepare for the day
and go about their normal, daily routine including work, school, training,
counseling and other helpful activities. Assistance at the host churches is
provided by members of various support churches.
