Tri-Cities, TN/VA Chapter 17
2008 Strategic Plan
Recent manufacturing downsizings and few IE graduates entering the Tri-Cities area job market are driving the chapter to focus primarily on retaining current members while adding some new members. The chapter's goal is to maintain membership at least 25 members by serving the current and new members in our chapter.
1) Retain current members and encourage involvement in chapter activities
2) Deliver joint IIE/ASQ monthly programs from January 2008 through December 2008 that provide a variety of business, community, and fellowship opportunities.
3) Maintain the Chapter 17 internet website
4) Encourage members to recruit recent IIE graduates and other local professionals in the area who are not currently members.
5) Reinforce new members who join the chapter.
6) Develop network with area leaders to determine functions/personnel with industrial engineering professional development needs.
Maintain a minimum chapter balance of $10,000 for the 2008 year.

The chapter's primary objective last year was to focus on retaining current members, adding new members, and increasing member participation. The chapter currently has 24 members which is down 3 members from mid-year 2007. The chapter’s current financial balance remains level with income and expenses fairly equal and enough cash reserve to handle any cash flow fluctuations.
