This year’s event will benefit Mountain Region Speech & Hearing Center’s Autism Program. The children in this program typically have difficulty with speaking, interacting, and playing with others, and relating to the outside world. Autism prevents them from being schooled in traditional classroom settings. Autism is a lifelong and potentially incapacitating disability appearing during the first three years of life. Autism impacts the normal development of the brain in the areas of socialization and speaking. There is no cure for autism, but our best chance of enhancing these children’s lives is through appropriate early intervention and therapy. Autism is a journey, sometimes a long and difficult road. The goal of the Mountain Region Speech & Hearing Center is to be there for treatment, education, training, support and encouragement.
