The 17th Annual Mountain Region Speech & Hearing Center and Sertoma Club of Kingsport Golf Tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Cattails at Meadowview.  The certified speech-language pathologists and audiologists at the Mountain Region Speech & Hearing Center have been providing speech, language, hearing, and swallowing services for over thirty years.

This year’s event will fund scholarships to provide speech, language and swallowing therapy to children who otherwise have insufficient insurance or financial means to obtain services.   Most insurance plans do not cover “speech therapy” as a result of a developmental delay.  Twenty-five percent of the Mountain Region Speech and Hearing Center’s clinical caseload has no financial means to cover the cost of service.  The center has developed strict guidelines to assess the insurance coverage and personal financial capability for each client.

Scholarships provided in the past by Mountain Region Speech and Hearing Center have resulted in measurable success in the improved speech, language and swallowing skills of patients and they are now seeking to expand their program.  Appropriate communication and swallowing skills allow individuals to effectively and efficiently function in the real world.  Progress by the clients with these programs is recognized by all concerned:  physicians who refer the patients, their families, and their teachers.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.  Please feel free to call the Mountain Region Speech & Hearing Center at 423-246-4600 with any questions that you might have.

To support this event, please access and complete the Contribution Election Form and return it, with your contribution, to the address listed at the bottom of the form. You will receive a receipt for your records shortly after the tournament.  Thank you for considering this request to support the Speech & Hearing Center and the Sertoma Club and the people we serve.
