Tradition
For more than 50 years, Boy Scout Troop 48 has provided
scouting opportunities for youth in the Colonial Heights area of Kingsport,
Tennessee. The troop is sponsored by Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church where
they meet every Tuesday night from 7:00 - 9:00 PM.
Adventure
Each month,
Troop 48 scouts and leaders participate in outings
that vary from truck-in camping to
backpacking, canoeing, and rappelling. The goal of these
activities is to have fun while developing physical and mental
abilities.
Advancement
Troop activities
are designed to enable scouts to develop and demonstrate skills that will allow
them to earn a variety of merit badges and advance in rank from Tenderfoot to
Eagle.
Leadership
Troop 48 provides
excellent opportunities for scouts to develop and practice leadership skills.
Activities are planned and coordinated by patrols and the Leadership Corps
consisting of senior scouts.
Service
The troop
participates in a variety of community service projects throughout the year
including Adopt-A-Highway, Scouting for Food, and various projects planned and
supervised by Eagle Scout candidates.
